Bourbon-BBQ Sauce

All of you who are following our blog for a while may have been waiting for our today's post ...together with our blogger friends Gernekochen and Herr und Frau Hue we presented a christmas and easter edition. And what could be closer than going on with a delicious BBQ edition?

 

As the Hues do live in Dubai at present, we have been supported by Thomas (baconzumsteak) the perfect BBQ expert and Steffi (IzzyMoose). Many thanks for your help!!

 

Today we want to start with the first of four recipes what you should try for your next BBQ party. A BBQ sauce never should be missing!

 

We were allowed to use the wonderful Villeroy & Boch dish of the BBQ Passion collection which was  lent to us for our edition. Many thanks :-).


Bourbon-BBQ Sauce_Rezept_BBQ_Saucen

Prepare the following ingredients:

1/2 onion, diced

4 garlic cloves, finely diced 

200 ml Bourbon Whisky

1/2 tsp black pepper, powdered

1/2 tbsp salt

480 g ketchup

80 g tomato paste 

80 ml cider vinegar

2 tbsp liquid smoke flavoring

60 ml worcestershire sauce

80 g brown sugar

30 g dark muscovado sugar

2 tsp chili powder


  • heat the bourbon (medium heat) in a saucepan the diced onion and garlic and simmer for 10 minutes
  • add all other ingredients and bring to a boil
  • reduce heat to low medium and simmer for another 20 minutes
  • stir sometimes with a wooden spoon
  • strain the sauce and fill into 1-2 hot washed bottles

If the taste of whisky seems not to be strong enough for you, add some more bourbon shortly before filling into the bottles ... Torsten could not contain himself ;-). But that depends on your matter of taste!

At present this sauce is our favorite one, every time we have another BBQ. It tastes perfectly to grilled meat and vegetable or just dip in some fresh home-baked bread.
